[1947-PDR] Architect: Perry Dean Rogers. Designed in the Federal Revival style, the brick building is located at 450 Washington Street. Touted by the company as “The greatest department store in the world,” it includes air-conditioning, automatic doors, two underground “basement” floors, and is the first in a series of store buildings on the on the site through 1957. The complex is replaced by a new building (seventh) in 1978.*
